There is no catch in the advertising of OWN Wyong!

Why? Because we are exactly what we say we are and that is we are a group of older women aged from 55 and beyond!

Our group was formed ten years ago when a number of women in the Wyong Shire agreed with what OWN stands for: an organization that promotes friendship and support between our age group.

Have you noticed that once your hair turns grey and you have passed that 50 years hurdle that there is a change in some people's attitude towards you? We call it discrimination and we enjoy changing this attitude.

How do we do this? We find ways to show people how we are ageing in a healthy way through social and intellectual activities. We use the skills and talents that we have developed in past decades and keep an eye out for what is new on the horizon.

Have you noticed just how much time and space is spent in the media about what is best for the aged? The Older Women's Network came up with the answers over twenty years ago when they developed ways to promote physical and mental wellbeing, social support and friendship, further the skills of women especially in the field of advocacy and at the same time to enjoy each others company and have fun!

Wyong OWN details

We meet at 1.00pm on the first Monday in the month.

Where? In the "Rosebud" room at Rose Cottage, Rose Street, Wyong. It is just a five-minute walk from the Station on the right hand side of the station going towards Newcastle.

We also have social outings and they are varied and interesting.

Is belonging to OWN expensive? No way, as we understand the financial situation of pensioners and superannuants. It will only cost you $5.00 a year plus $2.00 a month.

So if you are interested in making new friends, being able to have stimulating discussions, improving the attitude towards older women and have fun doing it, then think about joining us.

Come along to one of our first Monday in the month meetings.

Or write to: OWN NSW Inc. (Wyong) P.O. Box 5016 Gwandalan 2259. Prompt reply guaranteed.
