Macarthur Group
Our group has been meeting for four and a half years, providing opportunities for older women to meet others, form friendships and end the isolation of many women in this area.
The Benevolent Society support us in many ways, including auspicing any funding applications and providing us with a meeting room every Wednesday from 10am till noon at no cost. Funding has been received through the Community Development Support Expenditure Scheme for two years. Our application was rejected in November 2001, but we will try again in 2002.
The committee which runs our group meets monthly. They keep minutes and treasurer's accounts, and decide events and activities, which include:
- Coffee, tea, chat mornings
- Short talks/activity/demonstrations
- Monthly speakers
- Monthly bus trips
- Weekly lucky door prize
- Morning tea supplied ($1 at present)
- In-house raffles on bus trips and on special occasions
- Bring and buy stall (annual)
- Auction
- Special events are celebrated with a luncheon, for instance, birthdays, Easter Hat Parade, Melbourne Cup and Christmas
- Raising money for Ward C at Campbelltown Hospital
