Battle Axe Group

Battle Axe Group member.

Using video cameras to record women's stories.

Jan Wood's 'Battle Axes' meet on Fridays between 1.00 and 3.00pm. Our aim is to turn the meaning of battle axe around by telling positive stories about older women, what they think and what they do. The 'doing' is very important. We are learning to 'do' by using video cameras to record women's stories and experiences. We are 'doing' by telling our own stories. We are 'doing' by writing our own stories and then having another Battle Axe member filming and editing them. We welcome any woman out there who wants to be a 'moving and shaking' Battle Axe.

We have had two programs so far on Jan Wood's "Coffee Break" program on TVS and we plan to have more, because, we know, older women have lots of stories to tell and lots of ways in which to tell their story. And the best part about the Battle Axe meetings is that we will have total control over the content and the way in which it is presented.

So come along if you're interested in being a Battle Axe whether it be a story teller or a potential camera person or an editor or just a brainstormer. Look forward to seeing you.

Our programs so far:

Battle Axe Part I and Part II
Shown on TVS in 2008.
